Sapt Kund Trek

  1. Saptkund (literally means Seven Lakes) is a group of mysterious lakes nestles in the foothills of the gigantic Nanda ghunti peak. The lakes are located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 4600 mtr. The trek to the lakes is an arduous one but amazing with flora and fauna (1. Conitum local name Meeta Vish, 2. Anemone – Local Name Kakrya 3. Saussur obvallata- Hindi Name – Brahakamal, ) it’s known as Uttarakhand state flower and other 500 spices plant also found it) Pristine landscapes and unpredictable Himalayan Weather.

Saptkund lakes are sacred to Hindus legends have it that “Lord Shiva” himself lived here. Every year locals from surrounding villages visit the lakes as part of an annual ritual. Saptkund trek is amongst the unknown Onex in the Himalayas.

The Highest of the Saptkund lake trek is going through “Simbe Bugyal” (meadow) the unknown valley of flowers – where you find km of meadows covered, it’s front of “Dudh Kundi” peak/NilKanth/ Pnagar Chulla Peak/Veerganga Valley/Saat Nala and India 3rd Highest Kameth Peak.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun to Ramani (Approx 260 km )

– Depart from Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun in the morning.
– Journey to Ramani, soaking in the scenic beauty of the Himalayan foothills.
– Arrival at Ramani and overnight stay.

Day 02: Ramani to Dhouldhari (9km)

– Begin the trek from Ramani to Dhouldhari after breakfast.
– Trek through picturesque trails, surrounded by lush forests and serene landscapes.
– Arrival at Dhouldhari and overnight camping.

Day 03: Dhouldhari to Patharkudi (8km)

– Continue the trek from Dhouldhari to Patharkudi.
– Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Himalayan wilderness, encountering diverse flora and fauna along the way.
– Arrival at Patharkudi and overnight camping.

Day 04: Patharkudi to Simbe (6km)

– Trek from Patharkudi to Simbe, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
– Explore the pristine beauty of Simbe Bugyal, a high-altitude meadow.
– Arrival at Simbe and overnight camping.

Day 05: Simbe to Saptkund and Back to Simbe

– Trek from Simbe to Saptkund, a sacred lake nestled in the Himalayas.
– Spend time by the tranquil waters of Saptkund, surrounded by majestic peaks.
– Return trek to Simbe Bugyal, enjoying the breathtaking views along the way.
– Overnight camping at Simbe.

Day 06: Simbe to Jhinji(9km)

– Trek from Simbe to Jhinji, passing through charming villages and lush forests.
– Experience the warmth of Himalayan hospitality at a homestay or campsite in Jhinji.
– Overnight stay at Jhinji.

Day 07: Jhinji to Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun (270km)

– Begin the return trek from Jhingi to Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun.
– Reflect on the memorable experiences of the trek as you descend back to civilization.
– Arrival at Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun, marking the end of the journey.

The trek to Sapt Kund starts from the small village of Ghuni in Chamoli district. Ghuni lies 16 km from the town of Ghat and 26 km from Chamoli.

By road: The route to Ghuni Village from Delhi is as follows: Delhi – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Nandprayag – Ghat – Ghuni

From Delhi, get into the bus for Haridwar. After reaching Haridwar, you will start your journey to Ghat which is located at a distance of about 230 km from Haridwar. Buses and jeeps are available from Haridwar to Ghat. Jeeps are available from Ghat to Ghuni Village.
